Laurent Perrier Brut, NV, 12% Champagne, France. £50.00 In the top rank of Champagne houses, their style is light and elegant. Real Finesse tops yeasty, fresh bread undertones and taut apple & citrus fruit. Great complexity and absolute purity.

Dart Valley Reserve 2013/14 Sharpham, Devon, England. 11% Bottle £22.50 Super full-flavoured, zippy estate wine. Energetic and with all the structure for a long and happy life.

Madeleine Angevine, Knighton 2013/14 Knighton Winery, Cornwall, England 11.5% Bottle £26.50 Elegant, Crisp and immensely Quaffable wine from a local winery based at Trethurgy near St.Austell. It is Reminiscent of a Sauvignon Blanc with delicate floral and citrus character. Simply Delicious.

Camel Vally Bacchus Dry 2013/14 Camel Vally, Cornwall England 12% Bottle £29.50  Light, Floral and Delicate with apple blossom and a racy edge. A really Vibrant, Dry wine that shows the potential of our English Vineyards.

 

 

White Wines

Sauvignon Blanc, Santa Helena 2013/14 12% Central valley, Chile. Bottle £15.50 125ml glass £2.75, 175ml glass £4.00  The classic chilean style of sauvignon blanc is lively and lifted, with a herbal green pea leafiness and real freshness through the finish.

Pinot Grigio, San Alessandro, 2012/13 12.5%, Bottle £16.00, 125ml £2.95, 175ml £4.20 Venezie, Italy. Light and polished with almost tangible floral notes and a delicate lime and sherbet touch.

Chardonay Reserva, Aves del Sur 2013/2014 Bottle £17.50 Maule Valley, Chile Rich yellow in colour with an expensive nose; scents of bananas, white peaches and apricots mixed with notes of vanilla, toffee and dried fruits. It is soft ample and generous with balanced natural acidity and a persistent finish. A great food wine.

Muscadet de sèvre et Maine Sur Lie ‘Bleu’, 2012/13  11.5% Loire, France, Bottle £18.50 Traditional classic Muscadet meets the modern day with this quirky bottle design and colour. Full and nicely balanced on the palate with a lingering finish makes for a superb aperitif  or accompaniment to shellfish.

Sauvignon Blanc Taworri Marlborough New Zealand 13%, Bottle £19.50 Benchmark New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc with all the classic notes this style of wine is famed for -crisp zesty character, gooseberry fruit, grassy notes and utterly delicious.

Viognier, Laurent Miquel, 2010/11 13.5%, Bottle £20.95 Languedoc, South of France. Peach-scented Viognier is perfectly pitched here. Skillful winemaking keeps the peach notes true, right through the lovely, long, cool finish.

Chablis, Le Manoir, 2010/11 12.5%, Bottle £26.50 Chablis, Burgundy, France. Attractive young Chablis with steely minerality and green apple fruit flavours. Sealed with a screwcap for extra freshness.

Sancerre, Domaine Neveu, 2014/15 Bottle £29.50 A classic wine from the historical town of sauvignon. Not only does it have an elegant ‘Gunflinty’ Minerality, but the grassy, gooseberry fruit carries through the citrus richness.

 

Red wines

Merlot Santa Helena, 2012/13 13% Central Valley, Chile. Bottle £15.50, 125ml £2.75, 175ml £4.00 Soft ripe, rounded and packed with plummy spice and red fruit flavours. A Real over-performer.

Shiraz, Huntersville, 2013/14 14%, Swartland, South Africa. Bottle £16.00, 125ml £2.95, 175ml £4.20. Shiraz in the South Africa Style – Broad texture, juicy fruit with cassis and mint overtones – and with a drier European touch. 

Primitivo-Negroamaro, Gran Rosso, 2012/13 13.5% Salento, Italy. Bottle £16.95. Intense, full and complex with dark chocolate and black cherry character. A wonderful food wine with plenty of body and structure for hearty dishes.

Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva, Estate Collection, Viu Manent 203/14 Colchagua Valley Chile 13.5% Bottle £19.95 Fresh Red berries and blackcurrants on the nose with subtle notes of vanilla. Soft tannins lead to a long finish.

Syrah-Grenache, Laurent Miquel, 2010/11, Languedoc, South of France 13.5%, £17.25 Smoky and spicy and herby – very much an expression of its southern French origin – with plenty of attractive hedgerow fruit flavours and good, solid weight. A big wine with an almost chalky minerality that begs to be matched with robust food.

Malbec, Caballero de la Cepa 2011/12 Mendoza, Argentina. 14% Bottle £21.50 Blackberry Fruits, ripe plums, violets and tobacco leaves. Remarkable sweet tannins and a complex finish.

Pinot Noir, The Crossings, 2009/10 Marlborough, New Zealand 14%, £22.50 Finely poised aromas of red cherry, spice, raspberry amd gentle smokiness. The palate is vibrantly intense with a full, rich and silky mouthful.

Zinfandel Blush, Island Fox 2014/15 Puglia, Italy 11% Bottle £16.00 This is Italy’s take on the ever popular sweet Zinfandel rosé that California does so well! It is sweet and juicy with fruit salad flavours, a lighter body and lower alcohol.

pudding wine

Château de la Peyrade, NV Muscat de Frontignan, South of France 15% £14.00 – half bottle, 100ml glass £4.95  A truly intense, fresh, pure Muscat. It is wonderfully grapey and brightly refreshing, relying on a bracing citrus backbone to balance the luscious sweetness in style. Perfect lightly chilled with fruit desserts, as a digestif or an aperitif.

Black Muscat Elysium, Quady, 2012/13 15% California USA. Half Bottle £21.50, 100ml glass £6.95 First aroma notes are twiggy then brambly,then a wild sweetness- then finally the muscat perfume with the elysium sweet long finish. A wonderful mix.
